General Mackmyra is a whisky flavored snus from Swedish Match.  Originally introduced in 2016, it was a collaboration between Swedish Match, and Mackmyra Whisky of Sweden. The whisky used is their Svensk Ek whisky, which is a Swedish single malt. The names on the top of the can are Master Blenders from Swedish Match: Lars Jonsson and Mattias Schemer.

Flavor Description: A original portion with a dark tobacco taste with notes of dried fruits, cedar, and whisky along with hints of tar and malt.

It’s interesting to note that this is bigger than 1 gram portions. Most snus portions are less than a gram. These are actually 1.09g, which pretty nice.  I do love a big portion; it makes me long for the days of General Maxi Portion!

The whisky taste isn’t super boozy, and it comes through in a smooth way. The tobacco flavor is present, natural, and dark.

I notice the beautiful smell of a fine, single malt whisky greets me as soon as I open the can. There is a touch of tar mingling in, along with wood notes, and an earthy, dark tobacco character. The portions are plump, semi-moist, and pretty soft when I slide one under the lip. They come with a rather quick release of flavor, but it’s also steady. The taste is quite nice.  It’s the perfect balance between tobacco and whisky. The whisky taste isn’t super boozy, and it comes through in a smooth way. The tobacco flavor is present, natural, and dark. The wood notes and the hints of tar in the back serve as a nice compliment. The nicotine strength on this one feels a little above the regular strength mark, and has a nice kick to it. I’ve clocked the flavor between 48 and 53 minutes on average.

This is a tasty snus that just oozes class. If you want a snus that tastes premium, this is what you’re looking for. Whisky lover, tobacco lover, it doesn’t matter - I can see almost anyone enjoying the great taste of this snus!
